There’s definitely a trend of these crazy-cool fonts right now.
A rash of visually fun, artistic display fonts that are geometric, tribal, a bit boho and kinda/sorta extra-terrestrial.
I don’t know what you officially call these fonts, but we’ll just call em Geometric here to make things simpler.
What characteristics make up a Geometric display font?
These fonts come in all-caps (most of them) and have sharp angles, extra lines, doodles and triangles.
Oh and they have to be fairly difficult to read and have funny names 😉
This list today includes a long list of free fonts, one premium font, and two fonts from the Google Fonts collection which you can technically use in your blog if you wanted to.
But I recommend that you only use them in images because like I said, they’re kinda hard to read.
Make sure you read the terms of use for each one before using as some cannot be used in commercial projects.

Hey! I’d love it if you Pinned, Tweeted or Shared this post! Use one of these handy buttons below 🙂

Thank you Marianne!
they look nice. I like the most Baron & Tesla
bye bye
renata
Tesla IS pretty nice, isn’t it? It’s very unique and not too hard to read. I’d love to see you use them if you have downloaded them!
Thanks Marianne
I am just starting to look at the value and beauty of typography. I am getting used to Google fonts but these fonts you showed look great. Especially for header titles, it really can make an article stand out. Hey you inspired me to start a whole new board on pinterest for fonts 🙂
Have a great day
That’s great Donesia! Just be very careful using these types of fonts for post titles because they can be a little hard to read and you want them to stand out and draw people in.
Great idea to start a board. I’ve got a pretty full one if you’d like to grab some inspiration from: http://www.pinterest.com/marianney/typography-fonts/ !
Thanks for the tip. Yes it is so easy to go font crazy and forget that you are not creating this for yourself but your audience. Thanks for the link.
haaa I didn’t said if I would use them…
For titles or to do some logotypes, for short words
Thanks Renata! Like I said, I’d love to see how you use them if you decide to download any of these!
These are lovely, thanks!!
Another Coffee Shot
Thanks Holly!
Most of them are nice to look at but I can’t see using but one or two (the plainer ones) on my websites. They’re very stylistic but too hard to read. Thanks for sharing! I didn’t realize they were a trend so now I’m up-to-date 🙂
I agree with you Erika! I’ve mostly seen them used over images like on Pinterest and Dribbble, but not too much use in blogs, except for the easier to read ones.
Sanotra and Farewell are my favourites. Sometimes you need to see them being used in context to appreciate what impact, if any, they might have.
So true Deborah! I think Sanotra is my fave too!
Oh my gosh. I’m in font heaven! Great list.
Haha thanks Angie! Glad I could deliver 😉
I really like Dia and Baron!
I agree that these kinds of fonts should only be used in moderation.
Thanks for stopping by Cristina! I really like Dia too!
Where did you find the background image to the santora font? That field is beautiful!
Hi K, I didn’t create that image, I believe I found it on one of the sites that provides the font. However, I am pretty sure it’s from Unsplash.com.
I really love these. I would especially like to use them for my flyers and website I would like to build. I downloaded the Sanotra font from the link and it downloaded as a .rar file so when I opened it up it opened using my VLC player on my mac. I am curious how do you actually use them for a font on a website or to design flyers. Is it like copy and paste individual letters or do you download it into something that can use it as a font?
Would really appreciate any help with this. Thank you!
Hi Lauren, these are all fonts that you install and use on your computer like any font. A .rar is a type of zipped file. This article might help you open it up to reveal the font files: http://www.mactip.net/tip-extract-rar-archives-on-mac/
Hi,
Have you personally downloaded the Dia? I attempted today and received a virus pop up on my Mac today and now I’m freaked!
( the link took me to a page of someone saying he created the font in school?)
Oh my goodness Sarah, thanks for letting me know! I’ll remove the link right away. It’s an older post and things could have changed since I first published this.
